Hashkafah? Ha!

Today's (yesterday's, whatever) chitas says, and I quote from the Sapirstein Rashi Chumash, "Any 'Gazing' (השקפה) that is mentioned in Scripture is for bad, i.e. indicates the detriment of that which is being gazed upon."

Got it?

nope. spell it out.

I'm not sure I get what you're trying to say. That hashkafa on life is bad? Rashi says the word hashkafa denotes something bad in what you're looking at, not the person looking or how they're looking at it

Just like a guy said...

Modeh: Congrats.

Who died?

Cheerio: Hashkafah (which is very snaggy) is bad. Hashpaah, which is very Chassidish, is good.

Yossi: Got it?

Yossi said...

okay, yeah. although rashi says Hashkifa M'meon kadshecha is good...

The exception that proveth the rule.

Just like a guy said...

Nope, but when we do you're invited.

Ha that is funny. Btw, has anyone noticed the lack of reaction to 5770? Am loving it personally.

Cheerio said...

will there be a mechitza so the girls can come? ;)

Just like a guy said...

Sara: Yup.

Dovid: Where have you been?

Mushkie: Lack of reaction from where?

Cheerio: Actually, we're thinking of making two events on the same day, one for girls and family, and one for boys.

Yitzchak said...

Nemo: That's Rabbi Carlebach to you. Rav Shach. Zeh l'umas zeh asah elokim ...

I FLAT REFUSE TO SAY V'DA"L

Cheerio: Actually, the mechitza is so the boys can come. Ask Mottel I forgot which siman it's in.

Mushkie: Bais Moshiach opened up a block away from the local bais Chabad. He's talking about it.

TRS:You have to have a mechitza because bochurim are not fit company for civilized people.

yep, "hashkafah" is one of those snaggy words, like "histapkus."

Just like a guy said...

Modeh: But that's the whole point... if there's no mixing, then there's no need for a mechitzah! Also, I'm not sure if I'd classify the guests as "bochurim". Besides Yossi of course.

e: I'm glad someone got it.

TRS- I believe the questions should be where have you been (don't answer that I know). I've been hanging around Yossi's blog while you've been on hiatus.

Just like a guy said...

Well, welcome back.

Dovid said...

Thanks :)

dovid- good taste!

Ya but what's with the no comments situation? Maybe your mashpia will allow moderated comments? BTW I liked the how bochurish are you quiz

Yossi said...

thanks. my mashpia had nothing to do with this. but moderated comments... that's an idea

Moderated comments are worse than nothing-they kill the flow of conversation and are a real pain.
