BREAKING NEWS! IMPORTANT!

From Yossi, a bochur in Lubavitch:

Correction

I was at fault for helping to spread a false rumor that this year's Birkas HaChama is only the third time in Jewish history that it occurs on Erev Pesach, and the first two were Yetzias Metzrayim and Purim.
That is incorrect.
Yetzias Metzrayim and Purim weren't even years of Birkas HaChama, and in the past 1500 or so years, this will actually be the 5th time it occurs on Erev Pesach.
What is interesting is that this is the last time ever, until Moshiach comes, that it will be Erev Pesach (this is true even if chas v'shalom moshiach doesn't come until the year 6000)

the way I found this out was when someone showed me a chart with all the dates from the time Hillel (the second one) made the calendar...
but even without looking at a table of dates, it was extremely easy for anyone to figure out it was a phony rumor.
If this year is a birkas hachama year, and it is 5769, that means every single birkas hachama must also be in an odd years, 28 years apart. Not many people know exactly what year Purim happened,to realize it was actually an even year (3406?? or something like that??) but everyone knows that the year the Yidden left Egypt was 2448!!!
Nobody realized to apply second grade math and that if this year is birkas hachama, and is odd, that means every birkas hachama must be on an odd year, every 28 years...

Just be careful what you call a "rumor." It's written in a holy book, whose name escapes me.

Yossi: Yup, a little common sense would have been nice.
