Equals life

It's strange how life works, you know? Sometimes it seems like everything is going well-in fact, you can pinpoint the exact time when you thought you had everything going for you. I had this yesterday at halftime of the Confederations Cup final between the USA and Brazil. The US was up 2-0, the Twins were winning 4-0, I thought I had a bed waiting for me in Morristown, I even thought I had a job lined up.

And today? As you probably know, the US blew the game. I came to Morristown, and lo and behold, there was no bed waiting for me. And today I got an email saying, and I quote:

"After going through over 30 applications and writing samples we have filled the job opening. Thank you very much for your time, I hope to be able to work with you in the future."

That's right folks. Things were looking up. Very up And then they were looking down. Very down. At least the Twins won, right?
----
Several hours later...

I got a bed. All right, it's not ideal (it's softer than quicksand), but it'll do for the next little while.

And I might have a job. That's exciting. Yup.

Of course the Twins had to lose, but whatever.
----
I think qtap summed it up best:

"I think you have truly shown me what it means there is good and bad in everything."

As you said "Try, try, try again..." and it will all work out. Yup.

The way they write, "After going through over 30 applications..." adds insult to injury. it's like saying, "Don't think you ever had a chance at getting this job. We're so super cool that 30 people wanted the position. And you're such a loser, you were only one out of 30."

Actually they were trying to be nice

"we had 30 applications so you aren't necessarily such a big loser as all that. At most you're only a bigger loser than 29 other people.

"... and at best, you beat 28 other people."

@I got first: What's the point of rushing to be first if you don't even have a name?

The Twins always lose, it's in their nature.

I feel rather special, being quoted.

The Real Shliach said...

A: not so much.

B: so much.

Qtap said...

They don't always lose? Then why did it take them so long to get their stadium, and why is everyone mad about it?

The Real Shliach said...

A: because they got a new stadium in 82.
B: who says anyone is mad about it?

Qtap said...

In Crown Heights you must not here what the reactions, but people I was talking to yesterday didn't seem so happy about it. In my recollection people weren't so happy about it when They started talking about the idea of it being. Just my own observations, mind.

Beds are nice though I hear couches are pretty decent too.

Qtap: they weren't happy about it? Why? Because they say, "That's ridiculous, they're spending 600 million dollars for a sports stadium when the state is running a massive deficit and there are people starving in the streets?"

yeah. Geniuses. If they uses their brains they'd understand that their argument was ridiculous.

Sarabonne: yeah, there are maalos and chisronos in both.

Qtap said...

There is that argument, but that is not the one to which I am referring. There are the ones that are ageinst the location of the stadium, and the ones that feel that if anyone should get a new stadium it is the Vikings.

Now, I don't particularly care for sports, so as I said, these are all just my observations from what I've heard people saying. All in all, it seems like folks are not such fans of the Twins of late, rather they keep by them out of state pride. Everyone knows we have that in abundance here.

The Real Shliach said...

The location is admittedly terrible, but it must be recalled that if these same citizens had been willing to spend a little more money...

Metrodome+baseball=miserable.
Metrodome+football=ok.

'nuff said.

Eh, watch the Twins get into a pennant race and you'll see the pride come out. I'm not worried about that.

The Real Shliach said...

Altie: I try.

Sara: Shocking! An anglophile like you should know that we were playing tennis. And in Wimbledon fortnight too! I'm quite put out.

Modeh B'Miktsas said...

We're playing "confuse each other" it's a very cerebral sport.

The Real Shliach said...

Wait...who's confused?

Qtap said...

You, apparently.

Not at all!
