Devotion it ain't

I had a really weird dream last night about gays. Basically, I posted something about gay marriage on TRS one night, and a whole comment thread developed about it. I'd say which commenters were on which side of the debate, but I don't want anyone to get mad at me. There was also a new commenter, posting as anonymous, who wrote an impassioned defense of gay rights, or something like that. Later that night I was walking outside and chanced upon this blogger, who had some weird French name, and I told him he was wrong. He asked me why? I explained to him my view, that gay marriage is all wonderful and fine, and anyone who wants can engage in it, but at the same time, homosexuality is an abomination unto the L-rd, as described in Leviticus 19:22. He agreed with this, which disturbed me, because I was all ready for a fight, and here was this guy just giving in like that!

Interesting dream, eh? And now it's time to dream again...

FASCINATING! is that really your opinion, or only your dream opinion?

Cheerio said...

also - dude, you dream about blogging?

Just like a guy said...

Yup, that's my opinion.

Apparently.

Anonymous said...

wow you have a great imagination

Altie said...

as i said on my blog, i like gay guys, though i dont condone what they do.

and dreaming abt blogging...lame. try out some new things in life.

Just like a guy said...

Anon: Is that what it means?

Altie: You like gay guys? I have the perfect shidduch for you!

Altie said...

lol. thanks! but i think when i do decide to date, and get into shidduchim, id prefer a straight guy. after all, as c so kindly pointed out, gay guys make great freinds, but u cant exactly marry them. they will never love u like u love them.

Just like a guy said...

Why are women so picky? I'll never understand it...

Altie said...

ha. we are not picky. you're kalla agreed to marry you, so obviously she is not picky, lucky for you.

really, i dont think a gay-straight marriage can work, unless one of them supresses their natural sexual urges. (sorry for the graphic words.)

Just like a guy said...

e: That's it? I'm disappointed.

Altie: Re: topic 1: (snort)

Re: topic 2: Or it's just more convenient for the two of them...

Altie said...

convenient its not. it would never work.

Just like a guy said...

If both partners were homosexual in nature, then it would be a good cover for them both in a society that disapproved of it, for example Lubavitch.

wow u have a great imagination

Just like a guy said...

Haven't you already said that?

Sebastion said...

what a silly conversation! aand dreaming about blogging might insinuate a problem ;) because I do not know what it is to be in that situation or have those needs i do not presume to levy judgement on them. And it isn't as though they woke up one day and decided "today I'm going to be an abomination!" this is the way he were created. I not saying i condone it but i am in no position to tell anyone but myself how to live at this point. oh but i do think that the entire issue should remain in the realm of moral argument and never enter the political sphere.

Nemo said...

I think the issue should always enter into the political sphere.

le7 said...

Altie, that was a mean! I am picky!

Altie said...

lol. sorry Le7. if u are picky, then i guess TRS must be a great guy. he is all the more lucky now.

trs- a cover up, yes. too bad i am straqight. or not too bad.

i dont think its anyones business what your sexual preferance is, UNLESS u make it public, discuss it, and disturb the peace (and peace of mind)
then it becomes a public issue.

Modeh B'Miktsas said...

Maybe I'm asking for it but what side was I on?

bonne said...

Altie I must warn you, before seeking friendship of the abominable sort, make sure you're a sharp dresser lest you face their wrath. ;)

Altie said...

its ok sara, i welcome the chance to get fashion tips from a gay guy. they are always right on the mark.

Anonymous said...

Did we meet last night?

Just like a guy said...

Sebastion: desire does not equal action-that's the whole point of hiskafia.

Nemo: yes Mr. Attorney, we know.

le7: glad to hear it :)

Altie: yes, he is a great guy, thankyou very much.

You are straight or not too bad?

How could it possibly disturb the peace?

Modeh: do you really want to know?

Sara: could you help her in that department?

Altie: and you know this because...?

Anon: no, sorry.

C said...

I think it would be really interesting to see who was on what side. It was only a dream... I doubt anyone will take serious offense.

Just like a guy said...

Well, whoever is interested can comment that they are and I'll see what I can do.

le7 said...

What side was I on?

Just like a guy said...

As far as I recall you said that as long as people kept to themselves and didn't make problems you didn't care what they did.

le7 said...

Ah hah libertarian I am!

C said...

Was I involved at all?

e said...

What about yours truly?

Just like a guy said...

le7: yeah, that's it.

C: of course.

e: ditto.

C said...

Nu...?

Just like a guy said...

C: you said some mushy lovey-dovey thing about loving the sinner and hating the sin.

e said...

And I?

bonne said...

What did I say?

bonne said...

scuba-scribing

Just like a guy said...

e: something about how Muhammed wouldn't approve.

Sara: gays have suffered, and suffering makes great art. I think.

Self contained underwater breathing apparatus.

le7 said...

That sounds like a hilarious dream! I love how everyone's replies are so characteristic...

Just like a guy said...

My subconscious must have everyone down pat.

C said...

Wow, I sound like a naive idiot... but I guess it is characteristic.

TRS-I must say you seem to be making it up as we ask... although you do a good job of figuring people out.

Just like a guy said...

Ouch! Why would I do that?

C said...

So no one will be upset with you.

Just like a guy said...

Why would anyone be upset with me?

Nemo said...

What did I say?

bonne said...

Snort, how very appropriate.

Altie said...

i am straight. not too bad, meaning, its a good thing.

yes, it can disturb the peace, just like the mosques here in israel with their prayer chants all day long are disturbing. bad comparisan, i know, but they are both annoying. you can be gay in private, but publically, it is a nuisance.

Just like a guy said...

Nemo: you were salivating at the prospect of a lawsuit, but I can't remember if it was for or against. Truth be told, it doesn't matter, right? I mean, a lawyer is like a woman of the night...

Sara: yup.

Altie: that's good to hear.

How could someone being gay possibly disturb the peace heck, maybe being straight disturbs the peace?

I don't think in real life I would mention Mohammad in a conversation about homosexuality. Why do we need Islam for homophobia, when we have our very own Leviticus?

Just like a guy said...

That's why this is a dream, not real life. But now that we've mentioned muhammed, what was his opinion on homosexuality?

Cheerio said...

and me??

Just like a guy said...

"gay men know how to dress so well."

Cheerio said...

hmmm.....

Modeh B'Miktsas said...

Yeah I want to know.

Muhammed on gay people.

"Stone them and not the relatively compassionate way the sanhedrin did either

Sebastion said...

ooh ooh what did I say?!

Anonymous said...

oh and me! what did I say?

J

Just like a guy said...

Cheerio: what does that mean?

Modeh: stoning the Jewish way is compassionate.

Sebastion: you were the same as J, sorry.

Cheerio said...

it means that i'm not sure that's what i actually would say...

Just like a guy said...

That's what my subconscious thinks you would say. What do you think you would say?

Modeh B'Miktsas said...

That's what I said. I can give you the breakdown about how much more brutal the muslim way is but that would be too graphic. Now what did I say already?

e said...

Hey, give us the graphic breakdown!

Cheerio said...

a. the struggle with homosexuality is like the struggle with any taivah. it shouldnt be regarded with any more disgust.
b. marriage in general shouldnt be a legal issue, but a religious one.

Just like a guy said...

Modeh: nu, what does it say? As for what you said... Something about whether you like it or not it's an abomination against the L-rd.

Cheerio: sure it's disgusting, just like a father sleeping with his daughter is disgusting, or a woman allowing a donkey to mate with her is disgusting. There's a reason the Torah calls it an abomination.

Modeh B'Miktsas said...

I gave the graphic breakdown last night. I don't know why it isn't up. And that is not so far from my real opinion but not that close either.

Sebastion said...

I never understood it to be regarded in the same light as incest or beastiality (never thought youd see those words on your blog eh?) I also understood it to be a taivah, I mean there are other things mentioned as be "abominations" or rather upsetting to G-d.

Just like a guy said...

modeh: could you write it again, or post a link?

Sebastion: of course it's a taavah, just like pederasty is a taavah-doesn't mean it's not an abomination. Take a look in the torah where it's prohibited and you'll see that in context it's compared to bestiality, fornication with close relatives, etc.

Modeh B'Miktsas said...

compared to bestiality, fornication with close relatives, etc.
and comes out worse for the comparison. BTW it's 18:22.

Here's the comparison:
Jewis convict prep: get him drunk so he doesn't feel as much
Muslim convict prep: flog him first so he's in pain already

Jewish first step: Chuck him off a building so hopefully he dies quicker
Muslim first step: bury him up to mid-torso so he can't get away

Jewish step2: Roll a big rock over him so hopefully he dies faster
Muslim step2: aim low to prolong pain

Jewish final step: Nothing for it then, witnesses first.
Muslim final step: 50 points for the head. Line up kiddies!!

Just like a guy said...

whoops, stupid wiki.

Nice, now we know why e wants to become a Muslim.
